The Blacklist's twists and turns keep more than just the audience on their toes.

Red Sees Himself In Liz On 'The Blacklist', What Are Their Similarities?

Red's (James Spader) tangled web of intrigue serves to keep the actors in a content state of surprise as well. For Spader, this script-to-script anticipation was one of the major draws of the series. Unlike fans, however, Spader knows how the story will eventually end.

"The short range I have a sense of it a few episodes ahead, but still it's a surprise," Spader explained Monday on Late Night With Seth Meyers. "For me that's what I was looking for, something that was going to be able to sustain for a long period of time and I would never lose my curiosity and I would never lose the sense of surprise and the show does that."

Unlike fans, however, Spader knows how the story will eventually end.

"I know the end game, but you don't know on a television series what the life span of the series is going to be, so you don't know if you have seven years to tell the story or whether you have two years," Spader explained.

Unfortunately, Spader was mum on the Jon Bokenkamp's ultimate plans for Raymond 'Red' Reddington and the FBI's Elizabeth Keen. Fans will have to tune again on Monday to see what's next for the unlikely duo.
