Now that NeNe Leakes is a confirmed cast member for the upcoming season of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the reality star and actress is said to have gotten a huge pay boost.

According to The Hollywood Gossip Tuesday, Leakes managed to snag $1.5 million for the seventh season.

An insider told the site Leakes got "the huge pay increase because she is the most popular housewife of any of the Bravo franchises.

"Without NeNe, The Real Housewives of Atlanta wouldn't be the ratings blockbuster that it continues to be."

While there was lots of speculation that Leakes demanded a raise in exchange for her return to the show, the insider added that the network's hands were tied and they had to pay up.

"NeNe made it known she would need a significant raise to return. [Bravo execs] had no choice but to agree to it. While some of the other shows including The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Real Housewives of New York have endured ratings slumps, Atlanta has never had to endure that."

Leakes, who has also starred in hit series like Glee and The New Normal, is said to know that she is the reason behind the show's unfailing popularity. Still, after the last season she said she had reservations on whether she wanted to return because the show was changing directions from when she first began. She is the only cast member who has been on the series since the initial season. It looks like Bravo was able to make it worth her while.
