As the promo announcing the return of season 3 of Ray Donovan was recently revealed, talk of what to expect from the next chapter has already begun. What is important to take into consideration is that Ann Biderman, the writer of the series up until now also recently stepped down.

Season 3 of Ray Donovan to Return In July 2015?

This will definitely impact the series in someway, as Biderman's distinctive imprint will be missing from the Showtime series. So on some level, fans might be in for a different take on things as, at the end of the day, the writing defines any show.

But the transition will be easy, the writer and producer won't be completely vanishing, though, she will continue with Ray Donovan in the role of a creative consultant.

Season 3 of Ray Donovan to Run Through 12 Episodes

Showtime President David Nevins expressed how grateful he was for having Biderman for as long as they did, calling her a "signature asset" for the network.

"Ann Biderman is a uniquely gifted writer and creator. She has done great work on Ray Donovan from her very first pitch through the first two amazing seasons. Ray Donovan has become a signature asset for Showtime and Ann will continue as a creative consultant on the show. We look forward to continuing our relationship with her," he stated.

As the show was recenty picked up for its third season, the producers are now in talks with writer and executive producer David Hollander to take Biderman's position.

The season 2 finale of Ray Donovan aired on Sunday, September 27 at 8 pm ET/PT on Showtime.
