A big baddie may be dead, but the impact she made when her werewolves took out Marcel's community of vampires at the end of Season 1 has brought even more problems to The Originals this fall.

On Wednesday the network released a new clip from the second season's second episode, Alive and Kicking (featured below). In the scene, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) finds an unexpected surprise when he goes to visit the exiled Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) on the outskirts of town.

"I didn't expect to see you on this side of the river," Marcel declares upon seeing the brother of Marcel's perpetual friend and enemy Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

"I didn't expect to see you assembling a new vampire community," replies Elijah, for while Marcel had worked together with the Mikaelson brothers to take down Francesca, they are hardly on what would be considered friendly terms. Elijah still resents Marcel's betrayal, which led to a rift between Klaus and their sister Rebekah (Claire Holt).

"My community was fine until Klaus had the brilliant idea to make moonlight rings…" Marcel then insists, explaining how Klaus' idea had led to a powerful alliance between the witches and the werewolves that has put vampires at a severe disadvantage. "The [French] Quarter's become a dangerous place."

Marcel continues to discuss the state of things in New Orleans, speculating as to why Elijah had gone to see him until the original vampire finally spoke up.

"I came to make you an offer," announces Elijah at the close of the 40-second clip, leaving fans to wonder if Marcel might just be rejoining the Mikaelsons to reclaim the home Klaus had raised him in a hundred years before.

The Originals continues on The CW with new episodes of its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
