Another Avenger Is Coming To 'Captain America 3' To Cause Tension With Chris Evans
Bada-- Digest added to the news on Downey Jr. on Monday that this decision also leads them to believe that the directors of Captain America 3, Anthony and Joe Russo, will be taking over the Avengers franchise from Joss Whedon for the third and fourth movie.
The directing duo, who also helmed Captain America: Winter Soldier, would be keeping their Civil War plot, that would be introduced in Captain America 3, going through the next two Avengers movies.
Is 'Avengers 3' The End Of The Line For Iron Man?
The report adds that the Russos are who Kevin Feige would like to take over with most likely James Gunn following. But Gunn may be a more logical choice for Avengers 4, which they say will include Thanos and move the Civil War plot to a more intergalactic scale.
The Russos are talented and showed in Captain America 2 that they are able to bring a smart and entertaining blockbuster to the big screen. With Marvel locking them down, it may turn out that they become the next big directing thing, much like Whedon was, for them and they will begin to run this massive Civil War plot line for the next few years.
The plot for Avengers 3 is rumored to not include Captain America or Thor and could also have a role for Spider-Man to join the cinematic universe.
