After Michael Bay has walked out as the director of Transformers 5, it is being rumored that Mark Wahlberg might also not be returning for the sequel to Age of Extinction. There is also no confirmation from the other cast members and the old ones don't seem to keen on coming back.

What Spurred Michael Bay To Quit The Transformers Series?

In April, Wahlberg spoke to the LA Times about the fact that Transformers 4 was not a sequel and that he has never done a sequel in his career.

"Some people think of this as a sequel," he said. "We thought of it more as a stand-alone thing. I've never done a sequel."

Transformers: Age of Extinction Being Sued For Breaking Contractual Obligations?

There has also been no word on the return of Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor, who made their big mainstream debuts with Age of Extinction.

While Megan Fox and Shia LeBeouf have also been asked in recent interviews if they'd like to get back on board, they have mostly been casual and polite about the suggestion. Fox mostly stated that she's be happy to do a cameo in the next movie if Bay asked her to, and LeBeouf said it would be nice but it was quite the impossibility.

Michal Bay had revealed in an MTV interview, that he won't be working on Transformers 5. "There's a lot that's unexplored, but that's for the next director to figure out," he said.

If things go down this road, the producers might have to look for a new cast along with the director.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
