This week the cast and crew of Longmire took some time to thank the fans, who have stuck by the series ever since it was canceled by A&E after its third season.

'Longmire' Star Reveals When Their Contracts Expire

The #LongLiveLongmire hashtag has remained strong on Twitter as producers continue the search to find the crime drama a new network, and what started as fan enthusiasm online has developed into a bond between the makers of the show and those who watch it.

The "Twitter stampede" was a concept originated by fans, but this week the cast stepped in and adapted it when Adam Bartley (Ferg) announced one on Tuesday.

The aim of the stampede is to get #LongLiveLongmire trending during a massive online campaign at a set time. In addition to getting involved, Bartley took some time to thank those who have been committed to the program even as its future remains uncertain.

Producer and writer John Coveny also stepped in to show his thanks.

A&E's decision to cancel Longmire might have created the problem of finding a new network, but if the show does come back its fanbase might just be more loyal than ever.

Success is still uncertain, but if Longmire does manage to land a new home, it will likely return for a fourth season during the second half of 2015 or even the beginning of 2016.
