The surprising news of Archie Panjabi leaving The Good Wife, which was revealed on October 15, has set off speculation about if her character Kalinda, will be shockingly killed off like Will (Josh Charles) was.

The development rattled fans as the immediate flashback of Will's sudden death in season 5 came to mind. Albeit, this time it wouldn't be as shocking an exit as it is known well in advance that Panjabi will be leaving, which was not the case with Charles' exit. But it also seems unlikely that the creators would work on a similar conclusion for Kalinda, as that would start to seem like an easy schtick on their part. That being said, Kalinda, owing to the nature of her job which puts her in the line of fire, she is more susceptible to being attacked.

Another bleak alternative is to have Kalinda put away in jail, as she is known to have a chequered past and has ties with criminals behind her. But all said and done, she deserves a nobler exit.

The creators of The Good Wife, Robert and Michelle King, were sorry to see Panjabi leave, but only wished her greater success and looked forward to seeing her in new roles, as was expressed in their collective statement:

"Archie is an amazing actress who helped build Kalinda from the ground up as an enigmatic, powerful and sexy character. It's been a pleasure to write for her, and we'll be sad to see her go; but we still have her for the rest of season six, so let's not exhaust our goodbyes yet. We look forward to meeting all the wonderful new characters Archie brings to the screen. But either way, we're keeping the boots."

Panjabi earned three Emmy nominations, of which she won once, for her work on the show as the badass detective.
