China took the lead on Thursday with the most medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

On Day 6 of the Games, China was leading with a total of 33 medals including 18 gold medals.

Team USA ranked second with a total of 32 medals and 15 gold medals.

Germany and Japan came in third with 17 medals both. However Germany was ranked higher because it earned 4 gold medals, 2 more than Japan.

South Korea came in third in the gold medal count with 7 gold medals but ranked No. 8 in the overall count with 13 medals.

Medal Count by Athletes

American swimmer Allison Schmitt was the athlete with the most medal at the London Olympic Games on day 6 with an overall count of 4, including 2 gold.

Australian swimmer Alicia Coutts ranked No. 2 also with 4 medals but only had 1 gold medal.

The third place was for French swimmer Yannick Agnel with 3 medals overall and 2 gold.
