'Jurassic Park 4' News: What's The Best Movie Poster In The 'Jurassic Park' Series? [VIDEO]
As an official teaser poster for Jurassic World was recently revealed by director Colin Trevorrow, the occasion called for a look back at the movie posters of the Jurassic Park series.
Aquatic Dinosaurs To Feed On White Sharks In Jurassic World?
The one consistent quality in artwork for the official posters of the series is minimalism, and the striking effect of subtle suggestion. The emblem for the iconic franchise remains untouched, the fossilized dinosaur, usually a T-Rex. The original 1994 poster was sharply defined with pitch black and blood red, making danger imminent and running with a tagline which spoke of legacy: "An adventure 65 million years in the making."
The Lost World, which was the sequel to Jurassic Park, maintained the red, yellow, and black, but gave the poster an aged feel, as if it had endured the ravages of time, and ran with the apt line, "Something has survived."
First Look Inside The Visitor's Center In Jurassic World Revealed
The third movie in the franchise switched things up a bit, departing from the original template a bit. The species of dinosaur in the logo was changed, the backdrop was a silverish grey, with the silhouette of the Pteranodon, the flying menace, slashing across it.
The artwork for Jurassic World is done in shades of grey, surrounds the iconic logo, a fossilized impression of the T-Rex, in hazy smoke, effectively getting the message through: the invitation to the park is an invitation to death and devastation.
Of the lot, it's hard to pick a favorite, but the first and the fourth seem to make a bigger impression and convey more with their minimalism and use of color. Tell us which one is the best in your view, in the comments section.
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, and Ty Simpkins.
The Jurassic Park films are based on Michael Crichton's series of novels about pre-historic beasts being revived by revolutionary gene technology. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are co-producing Jurassic World alongside Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two installments in the franchise.
The film will hit theaters on June 12, 2015.
