Will Graham's 'Mizumono' Intentions Revealed, Bryan Fuller Talks 'Hannibal' Betrayal

Series Creator Bryan Fuller announced the premiere title in September, and now episodes 2 and 3 have joined the lineup.

The season opener is titled "Antipasto," episode 2 is dubbed "Primavera," and episode 3 is called "Secondo."

What Will Replace The Stag On 'Hannibal'? Bryan Fuller Announces New Creature

Unlike the French and Japanese inspired titled of seasons 1 and 2, the upcoming episodes draw inspiration from Italian cuisine. This is not by accident - Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) will spend the first half of the season ensconced in the Mediterranean country.

Hannibal episodes are not randomly named, and often the plot reflects the nature of the title dish. In this case, "Antipasto" means "before the meal" and serves as an opener, much like a season premiere. "Primavera" may refer to pasta primavera, a dish of pasta and vegetables that often falls into the antipasti category. "Secondo," meanwhile, refers to the section of the meal that comes after the antipasto and the primo. The secondo often consists of a meat dish.

Hannibal will begin filming season 3 on Oct. 20.
