Is Hugh Jackman Headed To 'Deadpool' For A Cameo?
The Wrap reported on Friday that Tom Hardy, best known for playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, could be taking on another villainous role as Apocalypse in the same titled X-Men movie.
According to the site, Hardy was once rumored to be in contention for Doctor Strange, though he has recently been courted for WB's Suicide Squad and the title role in X-Men: Apocalypse, so don't expect to see him join the MCU anytime soon.

Hardy's name has been on the short list for a lot of major superhero tentpoles with Marvel's movie being the earliest. He recently showed up on a list for Suicide Squad with Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Ryan Gosling. As the site said, he is picking between a role that could birth into a franchise in the WB film or a similar role to his character in Batman.
While Apocalypse could be a long-tenured character, it seems like recently Hardy is looking to lock down his own franchise with his next film being the Mad Max reboot, which he is hoping could become a series of his own.
If money had to put on which one he would take, it would have to be closer to Suicide Squad, which comes from Warner Bros. where he is working on Mad Max and had the relationship during the Batman movie compared to Fox, which he has less of a history with.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
