Ice-T has been on Law and Order: SVU since the beginning of his run, so the rapper turned actor is always up for advice for new cast members.

According to Page Six on Saturday, Ice-T gave new guy Danny Pino some advice when he replaced Christopher Meloni on the hit NBC show. Ice-T told him that being partners on TV was like "robbing a bank."

"I said we don't have to like each other to rob this bank," the rapper said at the Paley Center for Media. "All we have to do is know that you know how to drive . . . you know how to watch out...after we rob a few banks, we'll become great friends."

When asked if the heavy storylines about rape, murder and other tough subjects ever get to him. Ice-T said not so much. "There's craft services [catering on movie and TV sets], so it's not as bad."

Also, not so bad is veteran actor Peter Gallagher joining the cast as Deputy Chief Dodds. "I've wanted to write for and work with Peter Gallagher since...forever. He's an actor's actor-deft with text and subtext; emotion and intellect," executive producer Warren Leight said about the role in September to E! News. "Like everyone else in our cast, he's also a great singer. We're all thrilled that this long into the show's run, actors of his quality want to do an arc on SVU."

Law and Order: SVU airs at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday nights on NBC.
