The upcoming episode of season 10 of Criminal Minds will be a Halloween special and will be directed by Thomas Gibson, who plays Hotch on the CBS procedural.

In fact the episode, entitled Boxed In, has a third bonus attached to it, as Gibson's son Travis will also feature in it. As per the synopsis, the episode will focus on the disappearance of a boy in San Diego during Halloween, and his sudden reemergence after a year. Interestingly, this sets precedent for the BAU as another boy goes missing in a similar fashion while trick-or-treating. Travis will plays Jake McCauley, a friend of the missing boy.

In September, it was revealed that Gibson will be also be wearing the director's hat for one of the episodes. The official Twitter "set_report" account of Criminal Minds revealed that Thomas Gibson, who plays Hotch in the CBS procedural, will be directing an episode in season 10 of the show.

A picture was also posted with the post, showing Gibson in the director's chair.

In an interview earlier this year, Gibson revealed that the contents of the mysterious text message sent to Hotch in season 9, and its sender, will be revealed in season 10 of the CBS series.

The actor told E!Online that fans will get the details on that bit from the last season. "You'll find out what it says and it's important," he said. This is not exactly news, but more of an affirmation.

In May, the show's executive producer Erica Messer spoke about the text Hotch received in the finale of season 9. In the interview with TVGuide when asked if the message was from Blake (Jeanne Tripplehorn), Messer's response was leaning toward the affirmative.

"It was intended to be a text from her, but we won't know for sure until next season," she said.

The episode will air on October 29 and 9 pm ET/PT.
