On Thursday, New York Post reported that 33-year-old physician Craig Spencer was rushed to the hospital after suffering Ebola-related symptoms. This includes nausea and a 103-degree fever. Sources say he was bowling on Wednesday night in Williamsburg.

"After consulting with the hospital and the CDC, DOHMH has decided to conduct a test for the Ebola virus because of this patient's recent travel history, pattern of symptoms, and past work," the Health Department said.

According to BBC, Spencer's results came back positive. He is the first Ebola case diagnosed in the state of New York and the fourth in the United States.

Spencer's fiancee, Morgan Dixon, and two other friends have apparently been placed into quarantine.

This leaves some speculation on how fast the disease can spread. Spencer came back to the United States on October 17th so all of his steps are being traced along with his girlfriend's, according to another story from New York Post. He used an Uber car service and the bowling alley he was at is called The Gutter.

The BBC story mentioned that health officials did what they could to not worry anyone since they had apparently prepared for the Ebola virus to arrive.

"There is no reason for New Yorkers to be alarmed," Mayor Bill de Blasio said. "Ebola is an extremely hard disease to contract. New Yorkers who have not been exposed to an infected person's bodily fluids are not at risk."
