The profiler will track Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) to Europe nearly a year after the pair's last bloody meeting, but the first few episodes of season 3 will focus more on Hannibal and his new life with Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson). While the change in direction will open many new doors for the plot, both Mikkelsen and the audience will miss Hugh Dancy's character.
"Obviously I look forward to seeing what's between me and Bedelia - I have a hunch it's going to be interesting!" Mikkelson told Digital Spy. "But I'm definitely going to miss Will, and hopefully he will crop up in either a dream or a nightmare, a mental relationship so that we can actually spend some time together again in the show."

The slight break comes at a good time for Dancy, however, as he may have the chance to spend more time with his young family.
"This means that Hugh is going to get a lot of time off," Mikkelsen explained. "Well that's okay, he just had a little boy last year, so I think he needs it."
