'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 7: Certain Term Might Be Avoided In The Competition, Host Says 'It's Just Words' [VIDEO]
Drag queen superstar RuPaul has commented on a certain controversy that took place with using a certain word that leaves questions on if the word will be avoided on the series.
Will Jade Porchett Be A Contestant On 'RuPaul' Season 7?
On Sunday, Pink News mentioned that a famous bar in San Francisco called Trannyshack changed its name to T-Shack earlier this year due to people finding the name to be transphobic. RuPaul commented on this saying that there's nothing discriminating about this.
"They've used their victimhood to create a situation," the iconic queen said. "Don't you dare tell me what I can do or say. It's just words. You know what? B----, you need to get stronger."
Potential Season 7 Contestant Reveals What Will Happen If She Gets On 'RuPaul'
RuPaul then said another word she plans on using to make the situation less offensive.
"Did you call me granny girl? That is your new thing because we can't say it with a T anymore," she said.
The queen added that sometimes people can be too sensitive over something that she doesn't find to be too big of a deal.
"All the people that I gravitate towards- there's a certain irreverence," she said. "There's a certain mocking of everything that other people take so seriously."
Does this mean that RuPaul's Drag Race is going to be taking out the word 'tranny' altogether? Odds are likely that that will happen since there was already a controversy surrounding the series with a "Female vs. She-Male" game last season. But since RuPaul doesn't find the word 'tranny' to be a big deal, then maybe the word will be used after all.
RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7 is expected to premiere in February 2015 on Logo TV.
