The trailer for Lifetime's Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B film got even more attention as fans heard Iggy Azalea's Goddess as the song for the biopic. Lead actress Alexandra Shipp dished on why that particular hit was selected for the controversial movie.

Shipp spoke with Hip Hollywood Oct. 16 and somewhat answered the countless fans who wondered why Iggy Azalea's song was a part of the film rather than the actual Aaliyah songs that Shipp covered.
"'Cause we're not gonna give it away just yet. What are you talking about? We're not gonna give the goods away yet. You're gonna hear Iggy, then you're gonna see the movie and then you're gonna be like 'Yep, that was cool.

"You can't give it all away in the beginning. Sure we'll give away the dancing. Sure we'll give away the clothes. Sure we'll give away the image. But you ain't gettin the music yet honey."
Still, fans took to their Twitter to express their dislike for the selection.
One fan wrote, "I'm so annoyed that they're using Iggy for the heme song on that new Aaliyah movie. Let me stop hating though."
Another tweeted, "wait they have iggy music in the trailer for the aaliyah movie.. uh uh they need to chill"
A third tweeter used Prince to show how they felt and posted a meme with the words, "Who authorized this?" along with the caption, "why is Iggy Azealia on the soundtrack for the Aaliyah movie???"
But it did not end there. Another fan added, "I can't believe they're using iggy in the preview of the Aaliyah pic lmfaoo Aaliyah would not approve".
Another suggested that country and pop singer Taylor Swift would have and the same impact.
"I can't believe Iggy Azalea is on the soundtrack of the Aaliyah movie..they might as well have had Taylor Swift"
