Taylor Kitsch Talks 'True Detective' Casting Rumors
There have been a ton of hypothetical True Detective pairings made via social media over the last few months, but recently Sports Illustrated decided to put together some sports-themed casting suggestions for the HBO hit.
First up on their list were NHL receivers Wes Welker and Desean Jackson, who writer Andrew Doughty would compliment each other nicely as "emotionally complex detectives."
Matthew McConaughey Claims He 'Understood' What His 'True Detective' Character Was Saying
In reality True Detective has yet to announce its female lead, but according to Sports Illustrated the program need not look further than superstar tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams. "You'd get an awesome family backstory that would be a while new dynamic to the show," claimed Doughty, who went on to recommend Jonathan Papelbon with Yadier Molina from the MLB, Chris Anderson and Chris Bosh from the NBA, and NHL coach Patrick Roy and player Matt Cooke.
The Sports Illustrated mash-up proves that casting announcements for the series won't slow down hypothetical pairings.
Last month ABC News confirmed that season two will be filmed in California, with Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks) and Vince Vaughn (Into the Wild, Wedding Crashers) stepping into the show's leading male roles.
At this time, True Detective is scheduled to return to HBO for a second season mid-2015.
