One of the more polarizing elements featured in FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show has been the inclusion of musical performances in each episode.

Twisty The Clown VERY Bitter About Freak Show Being In Town

The first three episodes of American Horror Story: Freak Show have featured the show's characters covering songs that were actually first recorded long after the year 1952, which is when the events of the series take place. So far, Jessica Lange's character Elsa Mars has sung Life on Mars by David Bowie in the first episode and Gods and Monsters by Lana Del Rey in the third, while Sarah Paulson's Dot and Bette covered Fiona Apple's Criminal in the second episode.

The series has very rarely included musical performances in the past. Lange sang The Name Game in American Horror Story: Asylum and Stevie Nicks sang a few of her hit songs in AHS: Coven, though music has very rarely been performed in the past beyond that.

Some fans are not enjoying the use of musical performances in Freak Show. For instance, on the show's official Facebook page, one commenter wrote, "Can we not have a song every episode?" which received over 600 likes, suggesting that a great number of fans agree.

Another commenter wrote, "Is it just me or has this show turned into Glee meets Moulin Rouge in a clown factory??" Considering AHS co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are also the creators of Fox's Glee, this is a fair comparison.

However, many fans are actually loving the musical performances featured so far.

"Elsa's performances are some of my favorite scenes in the new series! Love the song choices!" one commenter wrote, which received over 400 likes.

Clearly many other fans are enjoying the performances as well, considering Lange's performance of Gods and Monsters is still in the Top 200 most downloaded songs on iTunes. It is also no. 2 on the Soundtrack songs chart.

Fans should not expect musical performances in every episode, however. He previously told Entertainment Weekly that "maybe we only have five numbers" for the whole season, and with three already having aired, there are only two more left for the entire Freak Show season.

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
