Danity Kane breakout star Dawn Richard has announced that she is taking another try at a solo career after the disband of power girl group Danity Kane.

She released her first single Blow, from her second solo album Blackheart.

Richard said in her statement, "With the help of my long time creative/business partner, Kyle Cabrol, I was able to create something we are proud of. This project is very special to me. We set out to redefine the term 'independent' and really push the limits on what could be done.

"We are just two people but we act as a label that has an entire staff. Both of us are extremely excited toe hare this art with the hearts."

Blackheart is the sophomore project of Richard's three-part series Heart. She dropped the first album Goldenheart back in 2013. Blackheart is slated to hit shelves on Jan. 15, 2015.

Danity Kane suffered yet another breakup earlier tho summer after reports circulated that Richard attacked one of her group mates Aubrey O'Day. Despite their split the ladies released their latest project DK3 just before Richard made her announcement.

Five ladies, Richard, O'Day, Shannon Bex, and D. Woods and Aundrea Fimbres dominated the charts back in the mid 2000s with hits like Show Stopper and Ride For You. But they announced their first breakup in 2007 because of disagreements with management, specifically Sean "P. Diddy" Combs. After that, Kane joined Combs' trio Diddy Dirty Money featuring the two and new Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Kalenna. Shortly after that group broke up, Danity Kane announced they would be returning as a foursome, without D. Woods. Shortly after Fimbres dropped from the group before it completely split altogether.
