Bleeding Cool reported on Thursday that the planned Wonder Woman standalone movie could actually turn out to be an origin story, a prequel for the hero with the character going back to the 1920s.
The site adds that the first movie would take place with her origins in the 1920s with possible sequels taking place during World War II and the 30s and 40s. This would fill in the gaps for the hero while we see her in present day films like Batman v Superman and Justice League.

They also said that if they got to a third movie with the character, it would likely tie-in with the Justice League with this franchise being the story of what happened with these heroes prior to the movies.
This time period worked well for Captain America and many fans loved to see the hero fighting Nazis in that timeline. But would it work for Wonder Woman? It certainly would be something different from the other films and a little history could make the story even more interesting.
It is also an interesting idea to have the character going back in time for her solo films while she works in present day with the planned films that are set without any Wonder Woman sequels yet.
Wonder Woman is expected to hit theaters in 2017.
