‘Blue Mountain State’ Movie News: Film Based On Spike TV Show Officially Filming In Wilmington N.C.—See When Cast Will Be In Town [VIDEO]
It was initially supposed to film in Charleston, S.C., but the Blue Mountain State movie is now set to film in a new location-Wilmington, N.C.
Updates On The Status Of 'Blue Mountain State' The Movie
The news was broken by the Wilmington Regional Film Commission, which listed a call for crew member applications on its website earlier this week-revealing that the highly anticipated film, which received its initial funding through a Kickstarter campaign, would come to the area to film.
It is unclear if the change of location will push the film's production schedule back, as it was initially slated to begin filming in Charleston in November.

According to The Star News, the film will be directed by Lev Spiro, who previously worked in the Wilmington area to film episodes of the WB and CW series' Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill.
The film's official title was revealed for the first time on its official website, The Goathouse, which revealed the film would be titled Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland.
While an official plot for the film has not been revealed as of yet, the movie is expected to be about Alex (Darin Brooks) and Sammy's (Romanski) senior year at Blue Mountain State University, as the television show the film is based off of only followed them through their junior year at the fictional party school with a strong football program.
Also scheduled to return for the film are Alan Ritchson (the titular Thad), Denise Richards (Debra), Ed Marinaro (Coach Marty Daniels), and Sam Jones III (Craig Shilo).
Jones is one of the more notable cast members to return for the movie, as his character left the show after the first season when the actor encountered several legal difficulties, including drug trafficking charges which alleged he was part of a gang which had planned to purchase and distribute more than 10,000 Oxycodone pills.
An official release date has not been confirmed for the film.
