'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers: Actor Reveals When The Series Could Go Off The Air, 'We're Coming To An End' [VIDEO]
One of the Downton Abbey stars has revealed when he would prefer the series to come to an end, giving some insight if his predictions will come true or not.
Will Thomas Have Something To Smile About In 'Downton Abbey' Season 5?
On Friday, E! News posted a story from Allen Leech who plays Tom Branson on the series. He mentioned that he can see the show lasting for a couple more seasons mainly because of the characters that everyone plays.
"In my heart of hearts, I can't see it going more than two more," Branson admitted during his appearance at BAFTA Los Angeles' Jaguar Britannia Awards. "I think the period of time we want to tell, we're coming to the end that us as actors we can keep playing these characters."

The actor then brought up a story that involved his co-star Maggie Smith who plays Violet Crawley.
"Maggie Smith turned to me on one of our last days of filming this season and said, 'I must be 196 years old by now. What's in the water here?'" Branson recalled. "I said, 'I don't know, Maggie,' and she goes, 'It's ridiculous. I should have been dead years ago.'"
Considering that the series is on its fifth season in the U.K., it'll probably be a while before anything gets announced for a renewal. But fans might want to brace themselves that the show won't be on for too much more time so they might want to enjoy as much of it as they can now.
Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in the United States on Sunday, January 4 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.
