The origins of the Snow Queen (Elizabeth Mitchell) will finally be revealed in the next episode of ABC's Once Upon a Time.

ABC has released a plot synopsis for the next episode of Once Upon a Time, which is appropriately titled The Snow Queen. The episode focuses on the Snow Queen-Emma (Jennifer Morrison) relationship as the two have a battle of wits.
"Emma captures the Snow Queen and interrogates her at the sheriff's station," the synopsis reads. "But the Snow Queen uses her prior knowledge of Emma to try to persuade her into thinking that they are more alike than she could possibly imagine."
Snow Queen Pits 'Frozen' Sisters Against Each Other In 2-Hour Episode
There will be flashbacks in the episode to Arendelle of the past where it will be revealed how the Snow Queen is connected to both Emma and Anna (Elizabeth Lail) in addition to how she got her icy powers.
Emma is dealing with her own turmoil as she notices how caring Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas) are towards newborn Neal, comparing it to her own empty childhood. Emma's son Henry (Jared Gilmore) will be in his own storyline as he continues to help Regina (Lana Parrilla) with finding the author to the storybook.
Finally, the Regina-Robin Hood (Sean Maguire)-Marian (Christie Laing) love triangle continues as they attempt "to find a way to save [Robin Hood's] dying wife."
Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
