It looks like the mystery revolving around Mr. Green's murder on Downton Abbey might be solved based on a new photo that was released from the Season 5 finale.

Find Out The Details On Lady Rose's New Man On 'Downton Abbey'

The British drama is airing episodes in the United Kingdom, but not in the United States yet. That doesn't change the fact that stories of what's happening in these episodes haven't been published yet. On Monday, Daily Mail posted a photo of Anna and Mr. Bates as they sit on a bench behind bars with solemn looks on their faces.

While they can be in jail for a number of reasons, the most likely one is because Bates could've been the one who killed Mr. Green, Anna's rapist. This has been one of the biggest mysteries on the show because it seemed just too obvious that he was involved in the death.

Is Cora Crawley Going To Be More Sexually Confident On 'Downton Abbey?'

Anna could've been involved too and now it looks like they have either been caught, or maybe they confessed. Another photo shows Anna holding a number as she stands next to other women who appear to be under arrest.

This just leaves the question on what will happen after this episode airs. Are the two going to rot in prison for the rest of their lives? Or will they receive some sort of justice and be let out soon?

The pictures imply that the couple have been arrested, but for all audiences know, maybe they won't have to set foot in a prison after all.

Downton Abbey Season 5 will air on Sunday, January 4 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.
