Twin Peaks is coming back to television in 2016 and many of the show's ensemble cast is likely returning as well, but there is one person who might not even be invited to reprise her role in the series.

Will Laura Palmer Be Back for 'Twin Peaks' 2016 Revival?

Lara Flynn Boyle, who played Donna Hayward through two seasons of Twin Peaks, has been silent on the news that the series would be returning to television. While a new National Enquirer story claims that Boyle is "desperate" to be in the 2016 revival, the credibility of the source is up for debate.

Boyle has all but distanced herself from Twin Peaks in the years since starring in the cult TV drama, not even appearing in the prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me a year after the TV show wrapped. At the time, she was dating the show's star, Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Dale Cooper) and there were rumors of diva behavior in regards to a storyline involving Cooper getting together with Audrey (Sherilyn Fenn), which Boyle and MacLachlan reportedly shut down, according to Fenn herself.

She was also one of the only people involved in Twin Peaks to not lend her accounts to Brad Dukes' Reflections: An Oral History of Twin Peaks, which was released in the summer.

The now 44-year-old Boyle has not appeared in many films or television series as of late. Her last film was Hansel & Gretel Get Baked in 2013 and her last TV appearance was Law & Order in 2008.

It is not known if Boyle has even been contacted to star in the Twin Peaks revival on Showtime. It's possible that David Lynch and Mark Frost are contacting Moira Kelly, who played Donna in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. So few details are known about the Twin Peaks revival that it is also entirely possible that Donna Hayward won't appear in the revival in any capacity.

Twin Peaks returns to television in 2016 on Showtime, with Lynch directing all nine episodes and co-writing with Frost.
