In a recent interview, Emily Bett Rickards dished about her character arc as Felicity in season 3 of Arrow.

Speaking to TVLine, Rickards addressed her past love, Cooper Sheldon, portrayed by guest star Nolan Funk (Glee).

"We get to see him in his college years, and we get to see Felicity in love. We get to see young college love and that whole game," she said.

In a few stills that have been revealed for the episode, Felicity is seen as a brunette, and Rickards was quite psyched about the switch from blonde to brunette in flashback mode, as she could associate with the new hair color.

"I have been a brunette! I went to an acting school for four months and I had very, very dark air," she said. "My mom's natural hair color is black, but she's sort of a blonde-y redhead now so... no one believes me!"

In August, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Funk will be part of the fifth episode titled The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak. According to the report, Sheldon, Felicity's boyfriend from her past at MIT, will be known for his hacking skills.

Rickards also spoke about the development of her relationship with Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) on the show. The actress stated that Felicity will come to rely on Palmer not only as a source of strength but also in helping keep her honest. The question about the duo's bonding was spurred by a still from the next chapter in which Felicity is seen breaking down with Palmer in the backdrop.

"That's going to be expected to come, and yes, he's going to be sort of a transparency in her life, perhaps be her polygraph, as she is for everybody else, which I find very refreshing for her," she said.

The next episode of season 3 is set to air on November 5.
