'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' News: Small-Scale Story The Way To Go For Franchise? Sony May Re-Think Their Direction With Series [VIDEO]
The Spider-Man series at Sony is at a complexing point as the second movie of the planned trilogy wasn't received as well as they had hoped and there is doubt that a universe could be made out of this one character. But is there a way to fix things and bring the brand back to prominence?

Cinema Blend took on Spider-Man in their most recent episode of Hero Blend on Thursday and talked about how the franchise could fix itself to get fans excited again.
One way to do this would be to make the next film containing the hero more small-scale and not to worry about the entire universe that could come after it. By focusing the movie on the story and forgetting about setting anything up, it could possibly drive a more interesting and compelling film and be able to drive fans back.
Is Sony Planning Another Team Movie With No Spider-Man?
The example was using Sinister Six as this possible gateway by keeping the story contained within the one movie and not worrying up setting anything up. They could put Spider-Man in the movie and allow Andrew Garfield to play the role he always wanted to, which would be entirely Spider-Man in costume fighting villains.
This would also make fans happy as the majority of complaints about the previous films stemmed from the overhaul of tie-in characters and villains that made the film feel bloated. A small-scale film that focused on just Spider-Man and the Sinister Six fighting a bigger villain could make for an interesting film, and a step in the right direction for Sony.
