Hannibal's eponymous cannibal will not be in a particularly trusting mood during season 3.

The murderous doctor and his refined palate suffered a major set back in "Mizumono" when Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) lost the one relationship he held most dear. As Dr. Lecter attempts to pick up the pieces in Europe, he will be loath to put his trust in his fellow travel companion, Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson).

"I don't think that the word "trust" is a word that Hannibal uses a lot," Mikkelsen told Yahoo! TV. "I don't think he can trust anyone. I don't think anyone can trust him. I don't think it's a word that he fancies either - he doesn't mind not trusting people."

The duo will pose as a couple while living in Italy, and their fake relationship has the potential to turn as dark as any real one. Hannibal, however, will take it day by day.

"What he believes is interesting is what the next day will bring," Mikkelsen explained to Yahoo! TV. "What will this relationship bring? Any new day is an opportunity, and if she betrays him somehow that will be interesting as well."
