'The Originals' Season 2 Spoilers: Esther Finally Reveals Why She Went After Baby Hope, Plus New Actor Joins Cast [VIDEO]
On Monday night The CW's The Originals made some pretty big changes, introducing Klaus' birth father Ansel and revealing the pact Esther made with her sister back before the Mikaelson children were even born.
'The Originals' Explores' Beautiful & Sad' Beginning
Executive producer Michael Narducci was pretty excited for the big Ansel reveal, which showed that Klaus' werewolf father had been brought back from the afterlife by Esther (Sonja Son).
Narducci's "welcome" suggests that actor Lloyd Owen (Ansel) is here to stick around for a while, which could stir up some old emotions for Klaus (Joseph Morgan).
Monday night's episode also bid farewell to Oliver (Chase Coleman), who redeemed himself for all the chaos he'd caused in season one by giving his life to save the children Esther had recruited for her army.
As the season continues the drama is bound to explore the dark origins of the Mikaelson family. Flashbacks on Monday revealed that Esther had sacrificed her first-born and all future first-born children in her family line in exchange for the ability to start a family. This means that baby Hope is even more danger than Klaus and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) realize, and according to Morgan the family drama is far from over.
The Originals continues on The CW with its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
