With the ending of the book leaving a lot of main characters dead, some fans seem to believe that the producers of the movie will search for a more happy, family-friendly ending for the movie series in order to appease the new fans that have joined due to the popular movies.
In a thread on GoodReads.com, one fan said that "because the expectations and tolerance levels for a movie audience are different from a book audience. Because more people, different kinds of people, hell, simpler people with simple expectations -- more of them watch TV/movies than read books."
What The New 'Insurgent' Character Posters Hint About What Will Happen In The Movie
While it isn't out of the realm of possibility that Lionsgate decides to change the ending, a drastic change doesn't seem to make sense and the studio has clearly rode an even more dark topic with the Hunger Games now so going a little bit more real with the ending of the less-popular Divergent seems likely.
The studio isn't going to completely ditch fans for the money, even though this series is struggling compared to some, and will probably follow through with an ending as part of their two-part finale that they have planned.
Insurgent is set to open in theaters on March 20, 2015.
