'Batman v Superman' Movie News: Christopher Nolan Reveals Why He's Excited To See Ben Affleck In 'Dark Knight' Role [VIDEO]
Christopher Nolan, who directed the very popular Dark Knight trilogy, recently discussed his thoughts on Ben Affleck playing Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Ben Affleck's Batman Allegedly Has Two 'Batsuits' Plus A Shirtless Scene In Film
Nolan, who is enjoying financial success with his latest film Interstellar, spoke with The Daily Beast about a variety of topics, including the highly anticipated "Batfleck." As someone who directed Christian Bale as Batman in three different movies, Nolan is interested in seeing Zack Snyder directing Affleck.
"When they told me that Ben was interested in doing it, I thought, 'How thrilling!'" Nolan admitted. "This is the guy who just won Best Picture as a director and as an actor [for Argo], and I thought it would be a great thing that he'd be willing to do this. I think the guy is incredibly talented and I'm very excited to see what Zack and Ben do together."

While Batman has always been one of the darker superheroes, given his backstory, Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, which included Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, really set the tone for the Batman franchise as the darkest and grittiest. Snyder took on a similar dark tone for 2013's Superman reboot Man of Steel.
It is suggested that Batman v Superman will feature a similar tone. With Affleck's foray into more dramatic work (Argo, Gone Girl), he certainly has the chops to pull it off. It remains to be seen, however, if the movie will reach the same heights as The Dark Knight.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
