‘The Voice’ 2014 Results: Are Jean Kelley, Mia Pfirrman, Taylor Brashears & More In Danger Of Elimination? [VIDEO]
The Voice began its seventh season live playoffs on Monday, which allowed the contestants to take to the stage for their first live, viewer-voted performances of the season. The competition heated up between Monday and Tuesday and sadly the 20 contestants will be whittled down to 12 tonight during the live results show.
The ten artists on the teams of the veteran coaches, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, were center stage Monday night. A few truly stood out and impressed the masses especially by the end of the episode when The Voice Official App voting showed that Shelton's Reagan James (who sang Colbie Caillat's Try) and James David Carter (who sang Garth Brooks' Two of a Kind, Workin' on a Full House) as well as Levine's Matt McAndrew (who sang The Beach Boys' God Only Knows) and Chris Jamison (who sang Ed Sheeran's Don't), were leading and most likely safe from elimination. See McAndrew's performance video at the bottom of this article.
Those votes aren't a guarantee though since Team Adam's Mia Pfirrman belted out a stunning rendition of Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful while Damien, also on Team Adam, nailed his performance (Sam Smith's I'm Not the Only One) too. The other Team Adam contestant, Taylor Phelan, covered Echosmith's Cool Kids, which Gwen Stefani commented on, saying, he's been consistent, but hasn't shown any improvements so will that hurt him?
As for the other Team Blake contestants, Craig Wayne Boyd gave a wonderful performance of Grand Funk Railroad's Some Kind of Wonderful (check out his performance at the bottom of this article) and Jessie Pitts struggled during rehearsals, but managed to pull off a solid performance. Then there's Taylor Brashears who truly infused her personality into her performance, but will that be enough to keep her around?
So whom do you think Levine and Shelton will save tonight? They each get to save one member each from their teams and then the viewers will be selecting the other two from each team moving forward into the Top 12.
Then Tuesday night, Team Pharrell and Team Gwen performed. The contestants under Pharrell Williams and Stefani gave great performances all around for the most part, but some fell a little short. Based on the app voting it appeared as though Stefani's Anita Antoinette (who sang Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass) and Bryana Salaz (she sang 5 Seconds of Summer's Amnesia) are frontrunners. See Antoinette's performance below. Salaz sounded a bit shrill though so maybe she won't wind up staying after all. Team Gwen's other artists, Ryan Sill, Ricky Manning and Taylor John Williams impressed, but Sill has a long way to go so he may not move on, but he has progressed fairly well.
Team Pharrell's Luke Wade and Elyjuh Rene (check out his performance below) appear to be the fan-favorites based on the app voting. As for DaNica Shirey, Williams would be silly to let her go. Sugar Joans and Jean Kelley are appealing, but Kelley may have crashed and burned last night, especially with the negative feedback from the judges.
So it's truly a toss up of who is going home tonight. So many of the performances were on point. Tune in tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC to catch the live results of The Voice.
