Now that most of the cast for the second season of HBO's True Detective has fallen into place, many have begun to wonder whether or not the series will be a game-changer for its new stars.

Why 'True Detective' Is Behind Schedule

True Detective opened a lot of doors for its Season 1 cast. It helped to revive Matthew McConaughey's career and, along with his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club, turned him into a sensation.

The crime drama also did wonders for some of its supporting actors, such as Alexandra Daddario.

"A lot has changed since True Detective," noted the actress in an interview with Vulture on Wednesday. "And I've been doing this for a really long time, over a decade now, which is crazy to say that I'm getting that old, that I've been doing something for 14 years. Maybe 18 years, technically!"

Daddario started acting in commercials when she was 11, but it was her turn as Marty's (Woody Harrelson) mistress on True Detective which elevated her to a new level.

"I didn't expect anything crazy to happen from True Detective, but it really was a big change in the sense that, all of a sudden, I was able to get into rooms to read for projects that I wouldn't have otherwise been able to do.

"That was the big thing," added Daddario. "I had other opportunities."

While Season 2 stars Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks) and Vince Vaughn (Into the Wild, Wedding Crashers) don't need any help in becoming household names, True Detective could lead them to different opportunities. This is particularly so for Vaughn, whose few dramatic roles have been largely overshadowed by his comedy career.

While popular film star Rachel McAdams (The Vow, A Most Wanted Man) is rumored to have landed the show's leading female role this season, nothing has been confirmed. If showrunners ultimately decide to go another route, the program could end up launching the career of another actress like Daddario.

True Detective returns to HBO for a second season mid-2015.
