It is being reported that the Fast and Furious series might be coming to an end, and the eighth instalment will conclude the movie franchise.

Deadline has exclusively learned that Fast and Furious 8 will be drawing the curtains on the speed thriller. Additionally, the publication also reported that director Justin Lin, who helmed the Fast movies before Furious 7 -- which has been directed by James Wan -- might be returning for the final bow. The plan for the finale is pretty unique and ambitious, as it is set to be a "multi-part production" and there will multiple movies filmed together for the big 8.

In a recent interview, Wan dished about his experience working on Fast and Furious 7, stating that while it was very difficult to make, it was also the one he was proudest of.

Speaking to Collider, Wan spoke about how taking on such a massive project was a first for him, with the budget and scale of filming. Wan is mostly known for his indie-horror and thriller films like the Saw series,Insidious series, and The Conjuring.

"The size of the budget doesn't make that much of a difference because the kind of issues I have on a low budget film I I have on a big budget film as well, but they're just much bigger. It doesn't matter how big or small your film is, you still don't have enough money," he said "You don't have enough time to shoot it. When you're making a bigger movie you have much bigger set pieces that require more time and more effort and more people. But Fast 7 is definitely the hardest movie I've had to do in my career. And it's not just me. Neil Mortiz [the film's producer] has been doing this for a long time and is a very successful, seasoned producer and he said that to me too. That Fast 7 is the hardest movie he's ever had to make as well in his entire career. And it's very true. But I think the final product will surprise a lot of people. It's that hardest film I've ever had to make but it's also the one I'm proudest of. I'm really proud of this film."

Furious 7 will take off from where Fast and Furious 6 left off. Wan took over the director's role from Lin, who had announced earlier in the year that he was stepping away from directing the franchise.

The cast for the seventh instalment reprising their roles include Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Luke Evans, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster. UFC Womens Bantam weight champion Ronda Rousey and ONG Bak star Tony Jaa will also star in the film.

Fast and Furious 7 will hit theaters in April 3, 2015.
