X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer took to Instagram to tell fans that he was headed to London to start casting on the movie (with finished first draft in hand) and it now starts the rumor mill of what British stars could be joining the cast and it includes a few monster names.
The big roles that need to be cast are the re-casted parts of Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler and Jean Grey from the original trilogy as younger versions and possibly the villain, Apocalypse, and maybe a few new mutants such as Cable, Scarlet Witch and Psylocke.
Could Wolverine's Fate Be Grave In The Next X-Men Movie?
One name that could work as Nightcrawler is Merlin star Colin Morgan who has been hovering over Hollywood recently. The actor worked intensively on the BBC show and has been a rumored name around a lot of new projects and Nightcrawler would allow him to join a big franchise and get his name out there in America.
As for Jean Grey, an actress who has started to gain some notice through her work in The Maze Runner is Kaya Scoledaro, who also has is good friends with X-Men star Nicholas Hoult. The actress was a fan favorite from the young adult series and while there are sequels planned, she could work in X-Men to even further her stardom, much like Jennifer Lawrence.
For Cyclops, Ripper Street star Damien Molony is someone who is looking for that big role and could burst on the screen with a role in the X-Men franchise. He has that bad guy look to him and would be able to pull of the sarcastic, tough guy that James Marsdan did with the role originally.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
