Producers have been shopping the crime drama around with various networks for over two months and now it seems all that work has paid off. On Thursday Deadline received a tip which revealed that the series is currently in negotiations with Netflix for a fourth season.
The deal isn't finalized just yet and Warner Horizon or Netflix could still back out, though the talks look promising and this could be the reason the cast has been preaching patience more heavily over the last few weeks.

As A&E's most popular scripted series and second highest-rated overall, it came as a surprise to many fans when the network elected to drop the show. Season 3 averaged 5.6 million viewers, making it a somewhat slower year compared to the 6 million viewers the crime drama brought in for its second season.
Deadline indicated that the program's older viewership, which was one of the problems for A&E and its advertisers, would pair well with the subscription-based Netflix. The fact that Netflix already has the rights to stream all of the show's existing seasons would also mean that fans of the show would have access to the full series.
Viewers have remained incredibly loyal since cancellation, voicing their support via social media and organizing "Twitter Stampedes" to keep the spirit of the program alive. They've remained a strong cornerstone in the revival platform.
If Longmire does manage to air on Netflix for a fourth season, production is expected to begin as early as March 2015.
