'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 Cast: Eva Green Dishes On Male Co-Stars, Calls Harry Treadaway A 'Pure Soul' & Josh Hartnett 'Very Cool' [VIDEO]
Eva Green opened up this week about posing for the 2015 Campari calendar, but during her interview the 34-year-old Showtime star slipped in a few fun facts about her Penny Dreadful co-stars.
Green plays Miss Vanessa Ives on the Victorian supernatural drama, a strong woman surrounded by men as she explores the darkest corners of London alongside Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Sembene (Danny Sapani), Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett).
"I love Harry Treadaway," Green told People on Wednesday. "He's such a pure, innocent soul and I adore him."
Vanessa's most complicated relationship his with Sir Malcolm. She'd been best friends with his daughter Mina, but following Vanessa's betrayal Mina's heart was broken. Headed down a dark path, the girl was eventually stolen away and turned into a vampire. This ultimately left Sir Malcolm with an agonizing decision: murder the creature his own child had become or save the adoptive daughter he'd found in Vanessa.
This onscreen father-daughter relationship between Vanessa and Sir Malcolm also extends into real life. "Timothy Dalton is fabulous," noted Green, "he's a bit of a father figure as well. He gives me advice in real life."
As for Hartnett, he's essentially everything fans would want him to ne. "Josh Harnett is so nice and also very cool," insisted Green, who will be spending a lot of time with the American star this season.
The relationship between Vanessa and Ethan, which blossomed into a devoted friendship during season one, will continue to be explored as the series continues. Ethan's commitment to Vanessa during her exorcism proved that he isn't going away anytime soon, and Vanessa seems just as loyal.
Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second season in 2015.
