At a recent event, Universal Chairman Donna Langley dished about the future of the Fast and Furious franchise, and if one were to trust her word, fans have much to be excited about.

Speaking at The Hollywood Reporter's annual film executive roundtable, Langley suggested they're not quite done with the speed thriller series.

"We think there's at least three more... I think it's still a growing franchise," she said. "We'll see what happens with Furious 7, obviously, but our box office has grown over the past three or four films and internationally, in particular. So we think that there's more to mine there."

But another report had suggested that the eighth instalment in the franchise will be the last, and will have an interesting format with multiple movies packed in for one release date.

Deadline has exclusively learned that Fast and Furious 8 will be drawing the curtains on the series. Additionally, the publication also reported that director Justin Lin, who helmed the Fast movies before Furious 7 -- which has been directed by James Wan -- might be returning for the final bow. The plan for the finale is pretty unique and ambitious, as it is set to be a "multi-part production" and there will multiple movies filmed together for the big 8.

Fast and Furious 7 will hit theaters in April 3, 2015.
