Stana Katic, one of the stars of ABC's Castle, recently spoke about an upcoming episode of the series that will be a game-changer and discussed her future with the series.

Katic, who plays Beckett on Castle, spoke with TVLine this week about the next few episodes of the series and discussed whether or not she would stay on beyond Season 7.

The upcoming Christmas episode will feature a moment that is "going to change the shape of the show for a few episodes, that much I can promise you," Katic revealed.

This season of Castle has already been significant with Beckett and Castle (Nathan Fillion) getting married in the most recent episode. When asked if the Christmas cliffhanger might be due to a possible baby, she essentially denied it.

With both Katic and Fillion reaching the end of their contracts, it is now a matter of determining whether they want to stay on for Season 8 and beyond. For Katic, she admitted that she is more interesting in preserving the integrity of the show rather than going on just for the sake of it.

"Well, I think it really depends on.... I don't think that a show should overstay its welcome," she said. "If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top, because I admire the way that they did that with The Wire, you know? Tell a great story and then go home and move onto something else. Don't milk it 'just because.'"

The actress also admitted that she did not know when the show was going to end, but either way she feels "lucky" that she got to play the character of Beckett for so long.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
