The Trickster/Archangel allegedly kicked the bucket back in season 5, but Lucifer's angel blade skills might need a little work. Instead of staying six-feet under, Gabriel reappeared during last season's "Meta Fiction" (see video below).
Unfortunately, fans were left to wonder if the reality-warping angel was really alive and kicking, or if his appearance was just one of Metatron's dirty tricks.

To untangle the mystery, Speight recently broke down the three main clues from his "Meta Fiction" appearance that he believes indicates Gabriel's survival.
"One, he snaps out of the scenario once Castiel outs him about not being truthful about what's going on," Speight told Enstars at Creation Entertainment's Salute to Supernatural on Friday. "Instead of everything disappearing on its own, Gabriel still controls the scenario."
Just as in "Changing Channels," "Tall Tales," and "Mystery Spot," Gabriel doesn't need the angel tablet to change the world around him. Instead, a little archangel mojo does the trick for him.
"Number two, if it were truly a Metatron projection, the likelihood is that Metatron would then just become Metatron and try to pitch Castiel on what he wanted to do in the first place," Speight continued before pitching the final, most compelling piece of his argument. "Three, why does Gabriel not answer the question [when Cas asks is he is really dead]?"
According to Speight, the series' writers put a lot of effort into leaving the door open for Gabriel's future return. As for whether or not he does, well, fans will just have to wait it out.
Supernatural fans can catch Speight at the next Salute to Supernatural convention in Houston, Texas.
Supernatural airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
