Justin Bieber Movie: Teaming Up With 'Ted' Star Mark Wahlberg For Film Debut
Teen pop phenom Justin Bieber told E! News in a recent interview that he wants to do more acting and revealed that he's been meeting with "Ted' star Mark Wahlberg about a "basketball-themed script."
Wahlberg, 41, told MTV News in a separate interview, "Justin Bieber and I are going to do a movie together."
"I will not [be singing] and neither will he."
To put away doubts about his basketball playing skills, "Biebs" discussed his most recent b-ball achievement to MTV.
"I did a little charity basketball game at Shaq's house for Pencils of Promise. We did a little charity basketball game, and I won."
Walhberg went into further detail about the movie's story line. "It's set in [the world of] street hustling basketball," he told MTV News in June. The untitled Paramount Pictures film will be inspired by "The Color of Money," which starred Tom Cruise and Paul Newman. Wahlberg will play the older mentor and Bieber''s role is a "wisecracking kid who's very talented."
"We're just going to have to make him realize that he's playing a character so he can't have the same hairdo," he added.
Wahlberg hopes to begin shooting next spring after giving Bieber enough time to practice "hooping."
Bieber appeared on the big screen in his 3-D concert documentary film "Never Say never," and appeared in two episodes of "CSI."
The 18-year-old's upcoming "Believe" worldwide tour kicks off September 29.
