'Law and Order: SVU' News: Show Uses Real Ray Rice Assault And More Headline Stories For New Episodes [VIDEO]
It's no secret that Law and Order: SVU uses real life situations and 'ripped-from-the-headline' news stories to create riveting new episodes that draw viewers every week.
In an all-new episode airing tomorrow, the detectives in New York's special victim unit will investigate a domestic dispute between a former athlete turned sportscaster (Chad Coleman) and his girlfriend (Meagan Good) seen in the preview below.
This isn't the only time SVU has used real headline stories to recreate and fuel their episodes. These SVU stories are very compelling, and it could be because the are heavily based on things viewers see in real life.
Here is a short list of just a few of the 'ripped -from -the headline' stories seen on SVU.
1. Season 16 Episode 1605: Pornstar's Requiem, which is based on the Duke University Student who turned to pornography to pay her tuition.
2. Season 16 Episode 1602: American Disgrace, which incorporates aspects of the Jay Z and Solange elevator fight and the Donald Sterling Scandal.
3. An episode entitled Haystack which is a spin on the real life Nancy Grace scandal that occurred when Grace allegedly badgered a woman during an interview, that ultimately lead to her suicide.
