This retrial began last month on Oct. 20 and is expected to continue into next month, but should come to a close before Christmas.
AZ Family Phoenix reported on Monday during the eleventh day of the retrial that Judge Sherry Stephens returned from the afternoon recess and announced that there had been an emergency situation and she was therefore sending the jury home until Thursday.
Jodi Arias Retrial Brings Up Arguments & Expert Witness
It is not known what the "emergency situation" is, but FOX 10 News reported that a person close to the proceedings said it was not any problem relating to the jury.
Furthermore, CBS 5 News reported that the emergency has nothing to do with the trial either.
CBS 5 News also reported that a legal expert, Beth Karas, said these kind of things can happen. "It could be something in the personal life of one of the defense attorneys, or Juan Martinez or the judge," Karas said. "How unusual is it for the Jodi Arias case? It is very typical. This case moves at a snail's pace."
Prior to the abrupt stop in proceedings, a defense expert testified again about Travis Alexanders double life-a devout Mormon, but having a sex filled relationship with Arias, which led to her snapping.
The defense is trying to portray a theme that Alexander emotionally abused Arias, which led to her brutal killing of him.
The retrial is to resume this Thursday Nov. 20.
Outside of the retrial, Arias' parents released a YouTube video asking for funding to help pay for their daughter's defense and they also thanked those who have sent donations. That video can be seen below.
