The show runner on ABC's Castle is promoting the upcoming Christmas episode as a game changer for the series.

Castle show runner David Amann spoke with TVGuide.com recently and previewed the bigger moments up ahead for Castle (Nathan Fillion), Beckett (Stana Katic) and the gang.

"We're looking at a bit of a game-changer for Castle at the end of the episode," Amann revealed, though he said this doesn't mean that Castle and Beckett are getting divorced. "The events of the episode will cause a shift...in Castle's life in a fairly significant way."

Despite this reported game changer, the episode will apparently have a lighter tone overall, considering it's the Christmas episode.

This apparently won't have much to do with the central mystery that kicked off Season 7 either, after Castle got into the fiery car wreck. The report says that Amann suggested that they won't be addressing the big mystery until around February, which features a two-part episode.

Katie previously spoke with TVLine about this Christmas episode, revealing that it is "going to change the shape of the show for a few episodes, that much I can promise you."

The actress also discussed the potential for her to leave the show after Season 7, essentially stating that if there is nowhere else to go for Beckett, then she may just bow out.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
