'X-Men: Apocalypse' Movie Cast: Jennifer Lawrence Says Mystique Will Be 'In Hiding' At Beginning, 'Unsure' Of Character's Direction [VIDEO]
While it looks like she will have a new romance to focus on in the next movie, it seems like outside of that, one of the stars of the X-Men series is unsure where her character is headed as we go into the next movie.
In an interview with IGN on Thursday, Jennifer Lawrence talked briefly about X-Men: Apocalypse and where Mystique would be headed in the next movie and she believes that the character will start in hiding.
"I don't know. I mean she's very complex so she's both. She's a hero to her race which makes her a villain to the opposite race so I don't know really know where we're going to go," she said.
"I've had a few conversations about where we will find her. She obviously has to be in hiding somewhere, but I don't know."
At the end of Days of Future Past, Mystique left on a somewhat ambiguous note between Magneto and Charles Xavier, which could be why she is going to start in hiding. She chose to let Trask live, which was against what she wanted to do, but she was also liberated from the grasp that she felt Charles had on her all her life.
With the rumors that Magneto and Mystique will be the headline relationship, and the possibility that her children like Nightcrawler could pop up, it sets up for the biggest outing of the series for Lawrence and her character and could mean she is gearing up for the most work that she has done in the franchise.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
