The Originals is bringing Rebekah (Claire Holt) back to New Orleans for the mid-season finale on The CW and her return could mean a second chance for her and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) to rekindle their lost romance.

'The Originals' Creator Addresses Hayley & Elijah's Relationship

"I will say that I definitely shot a scene with him," admitted Holt in an interview with TVLine on Monday. "But I can't say whether it's romantic or positive or whatever."

The actress didn't reveal much about the mid-season finale, which airs on Dec. 8, but she did claim that Rebekah will be struggling with a lot throughout the episode.

"We learn how much raising Hope has led Rebekah to crave that child of her own, even more so now than she already did," noted Holt, referencing an earlier scene with Elijah (Daniel Gillies) in which she revealed her fears about letting the baby go. "She knows Hayley is Hope's mother, and she has to return her, but she's fiercely protective and loves that child. It's going to be difficult for her."

That "fiercely protective" nature might just force Rebekah to turn down Esther's (Sonja Sohn) tempting offer to make her human. The only thing that might sway Rebekah to forsake a human life is her love for that baby. Since Esther doesn't know that Hope is alive, this could prove to be an advantage for Klaus (Joseph Morgan) as he fights to protect his child.

The mid-season premiere will conclude Holt's two-episode return to the series, though she's always open to coming back in the future for another appearance. "I love this show," declared the actress. "And you never know where the story is going to go. I wouldn't shut the door."

The Originals continues on The CW with its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
