The Twitter Stampedes designed to promote A&E's axed crime drama Longmire have finally come to an end.

'Longmire' Fans Flock To Netflix

These stampedes, which aimed to get the cancelled series trending on Twitter, carried on for two weeks after it was announced that the show had found on a new home on Netflix. Now, however, cast and crew have gone quiet.

Actors Lou Diamond Phillips (Henry), Adam Bartley (Ferg), A. Martinez (Jacob), Louanne Stephens (Ruby), Cassidy Freeman (Cady), and author Craig Johnson had all played a big role in the stampedes, reposting messages from fans and encouraging viewers to keep the spirit of the series alive. Sometimes they shared photos from the set, other times they merely listed the reasons why the program deserved another season.

Changes Netflix Is Making To 'Longmire'

This past Monday, however, the show's advocates went silent, and it's possible fans may not hear much from them until production begins in March.

Last month Warner Horizon and Netflix signed a deal to bring Longmire to the subscription service provider. According to Deadline, the new season will include ten episodes, each of which will run about 15 minutes longer because there will be no commercial breaks.

A&E shocked fans earlier this year when it cancelled the popular crime drama, which averaged 5.6 million viewers during its third season. The show remained the network's highest-rated scripted series throughout its entire run and the network's second highest-rated series overall behind Duck Dynasty.

Longmire will likely return for its fourth season on Netflix during the second half of 2015.
