The last remaining character from the procedural's pilot, Stokes (George Eads) will make his exit as part of the Gig Harbor Killer storyline. While that sounds like a sure death sentence for Stokes, TV Guide reports that the nature of Eads' departure is not set in stone.
"Even though Nick's exit from the show will be connected to the Gig Harbor Killer case, fans shouldn't necessarily assume that Nick will be killed off," TV Guide stated. "In fact, I hear that there are happier story options still in contention."

A case that D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) though he put to bed a long time ago, the Gig Harbor Killings came back into the picture in the season 15 premiere. The alleged killer, Jared Briscoe (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), was safely on death row, the emergence of his twin brother has thrown the whole case into disarray.
